Join us in Regina Downtown from January 26 – February 4 2024 for art, games, workshops, concerts and more!

Join the Creative City Centre, in partnership with Regina Downtown and Frost Week, for ten days of fun winter art activities in Victoria Park January 26 to February 4th! Local artists are creating ice sculptures and icy art installations, and there are so many other things to see/do!  Bring your skates, check out the outdoor art gallery, watch movies, listen to some bands, and so many other fun things to do in our frosty city!

Events

Come check out the Frosted Femmes ice installations created by Matthew Donnelly and Geanna Dunbar! Victoria Park along the path that runs from the cenotaph to the corner of Vic and Lorne!

Join us at the Regina Public Library, between noon and 3 pm, in the Children’s Area.  We’ll be making snow globes that you can take home with you!  Open to children of all ages, this is a drop-in workshop.  Stay as long as you like!

Join us on Sunday, January 28 as our seven artists work on their newest ice sculpture installations!  Watch as their creations take shape, and try your hand at snow sculpting while you’re there.  (There isn’t enough snow for our artists to create snow sculptures this year, but we’re hoping there will be enough on the ground for you to try your hand at a smaller sculpture.)

Ice sculptures will be on display throughout the festival!

Thursday, February 1, 6 pm – 8 pm

Sing-A-Long Family Night:  Chili and Hot Chocolate with the Alvarez James Band

Victoria Park, Frost Main Tent

Bring your family for a fun night!  We’ll have a giant pot of vegetarian chili from the Hampton Hub to fill your bellies, and Kris Alvarez and her family band will feed your soul with music.  Sing along with as we warm up the tent on the plaza with our vocal chords.  In addition to the music, your kids can make paper snowflakes to help decorate the tent or to take home with you!

Friday, February 2, 6 – 9 pm

The Frost Festival tent will be hopping with a YQR music showcase, featuring performances by Blu Beach Band, Carmela and Marissa Burwell.  Experience some of the best new artists making music in Regina!

Saturday, February 3

From 11 am to 2 pm, the RPL team will be there to help you make snowflakes, buttons or other crafty items to take home.  Bring your expired credit or debit cards and we can turn them into guitar picks!

Traditional Hand Game and Stick Game with Tianna Delorme

Saturday, February 3, 2023, 2:00 – 4:00 pm

Victoria Park, Frost Main Tent

Learn about Indigenous hand games and traditional stick games from artist Tianna Delorme.  This is a hands-on workshop, suitable for all ages!

Schedule:

2:00 pm Workshop – Storytelling

The story about hand games, where it came from, why we play it and how it is made.

2:20 pm Workshop – Learning to play, practice round

Explaining the rules of the game, how to win and playing some warmup games.

2:50 pm – Playing Hand Games

Participants will now play hand games! Playing in a mini-tournament. (Depending on the number of participants)

Emerging Artist Showcase Night, 6 pm to 9 pm

This evening, we’re putting the spotlight on the young talent in our city!  Join us for a performance by FadaDance Youth Company, followed by spoken word artist Carly Bear.  Then the bands will take with stage, with performances by Tracy Waters, The Whats and Endless Retirement.
