Creative City Centre presents Regina Word Up open mic night!
7:00 – 9:00 PM, doors open at 6:30 PM

Our spoken word events are magical nights, where community comes together to share stories, poems and words that make us laugh, or cry, or any emotion in between. Sign up for the open mic starting at 6:30 pm, with spots limited to 12 poets. Open mic starts at 7pm, followed by a short intermission before a poetry set from our feature, Oma is Loud.

About our featured poet:
Oma is Loud is the 2026 Canadian Poetry Slam Nationals Champ. A three-time winner of the Calgary Poetry Slam, she is a Poetry Translation Centre (UK) Undertow Fellow. Her poetry-theatre production, Pretty Dangerous: Four Acts on Womanhood, premiered at the Calgary Central Library in March 2026. A stark raving mad poet, she stays wild in her musings until 9 pm or so.

How can you bring a poem to life on stage? How can you inhabit a poem to make it happen in real time? This practical workshop explores the performance elements that accompany the written poem and make it a bodily experience.

This workshop is free to attend, but please register in advance so we can plan seating!

Songwriter Showcase! Featuring Megan Nash

Songwriter Showcase is a chance for local songwriters to get a chance to connect with other songwriters and share their work in a welcoming and supportive environment. Whether you have been writing for as long as you can remember, or you just started your journey, we welcome you!

Doors will open and open mic sign up will start at 7:00 pm- we are limited to 12 slots, so make sure to arrive on time if you wish to sign up. The open mic will then begin at 7:00 pm, followed by a short intermission before a set by our feature songwriter, Megan Nash!

More about the feature songwriter: Megan Nash’s latest album “Soft Focus Futures” was called “lyrically masterful” by Exclaim! and that was like, really nice of them to say that. She has played shows around the world including Portugal, Germany, Wales, and Estonia (humble brag). Nash has been nominated for four Western Canadian Music Awards, has taken home three Saskatchewan Music Awards, and is a JUNO-losing proud dog mother to geriatric puppies including Max Nash and the late Shiloh Nash. Nash is currently reading “Murder Bimbo” by Rebecca Novack.
