The Alvarez James Family Band is Jim & Kris Alvarez, Eric & Zoë James and often includes guest appearances by Susan Alvarez and Iris James. There are 2 guitars, 1 ukulele, 6 voices, a tambourine, 2 grandparents, 4 parents, 2 siblings, 2 daughters, some shakers and some movers!  The band has performed in many festivals, community events, art sales and theatre performances AND in a multitude of versions.

As a dad-daughter duo, Jim & Kris opened for Canadian touring musician Tennyson King at the Artesian this past year.  The married duo version, Jim & Susan have also performed together at many events with their Filipino community.  As a trio, Jim, Kris and Kris’s partner Eric have busked on the streets and grass of many festivals including Cathedral Village Arts Festival, Bazaart, Park Art and Midsummer Arts Festival to name a few.  Besides harmonies and percussion, Zoë and Iris, Kris & Eric’s young ones, have added a wonderful component of dance! to performances.

All 6 family members are the house band for Kris Alvarez’s theatre project Burnt Sienna – a variety show highlighting experiences of identity, race and culture which recently evolved into Burnt Sienna Blvd, a version for younger ones and families. Burnt Sienna Blvd was invited to perform at the past two years of the Regina Folk Festival and continues to offer families joyful artful ways to connect with community at the Artesian this April and May 2024!
