In this workshop, we’ll explore memory as a poetic device and a powerful tool for remembrance, resistance, and healing. Through writing prompts, discussions, and shared reflection, we will learn how to weave our cherished—and perhaps forgotten—memories into poems.
Writers of all genres and experience levels are welcome!
Attendees are encouraged to bring a picture of a place that holds special memories for them, whether from childhood or more recent times.
This workshop is free to attend, but please register in advance so we can plan seating!

More about the artist:
Abdulsalam is a Syrian-Palestinian spoken word poet and photographer. His poetry explores themes of displacement, belonging, and, sometimes, love. Since calling Turtle Island home, Abdulsalam has performed in various cities, reached the finals of the 2023 Canadian Individual Poetry Slam (CIPS) in Vancouver, and featured at the Saskatchewan Festival of Words. He is grateful to live, work, and play on the unceded Coast Salish Territories.
