The Creative City Centre is a fully licensed, all-ages, and wheel-chair accessible facility located in the heart of downtown Regina.
The Home Fire Songwriters Circle, inspired by events Creative City Centre has run in the past, and one we hope to have as an ongoing event. This style of event offers featured musicians a chance to share the stage with fellow artists and take turns sharing songs and storytelling. It invites the audience to get a closer look into how musicians write and the meaning behind the songs. We have a sweet line up for this first one back: Eekwol, AUNTIE KD, and Raven Reid.
Come on out, get to know these musicians, and maybe get inspired to create some music of your own!
Feature performers:
Eekwol aka Lindsay Knight is an award-winning hip-hop performing artist and activist who has dedicated years to the culture and craft of hip-hop to create something unique and astounding to give back to the community. She is half nehiyaw (a status member of Muskoday First Nation) and half immigrant (Russian/Polish) with lived experience as an urban Indigenous person in Saskatoon, Treaty Six Territory. Eekwol uses her music and words to spread messages of resistance and revolution and keep Indigenous language, land, and culture alive for the next generations.
Along with her own creative work, she is a mom of two, a PhD Candidate and lecturer at the University of Saskatchewan and is frequently invited to work with young people across Turtle Island as a mentor and helper. She achieves this through performances, workshops, speaking events, conferences and programs.
In 2024, Eekwol released her 9th studio album titled, TMRWS, which is on all streaming sites.
Indigenous folk singer-songwriter Raven Reid’s music is steeped in lived experience, cultural truth, and poetic reflection. Born in Yellowknife with ancestral ties to the Mikisew First Nation in Alberta, Raven’s creative path began at age six when she started writing short stories. Teaching herself guitar as a teen, she began weaving her poetry into music, creating a deeply personal, soulful sound.
Her artistry is shaped by her life as a Sixties Scoop survivor. Displaced from her biological family and community by government imposed assimilation policies, Raven’s songs carry themes of resilience, generational healing, and reclaiming identity. Whether performing on stage or speaking at schools, women’s summits, and survivor gatherings, she shares her story with honesty and hope.
Based in Saskatoon, Raven has become a familiar voice at Saskatchewan music festivals including Ness Creek, Manitou Music Festival, Doylefest, Waskesiu Lakeside, MooseFest, Hillbilly Blues Festival and more.
Her 2024 debut album Waiting for Change features eight original songs that invite listeners to embrace growth and purpose.
In 2025, Raven released two singles—Stumbling Fool and 215—both recorded at CBC Studios during her participation in the CBC Reverie Indigenous Music Residency. She also earned three Saskatchewan Music Award nominations, appeared as an Official Showcase Artist at Breakout West and OSAC, took part in the Saskmusic Indigenous Song Writer’s Workshop, OHSOTO’KINO Indigenous Music Incubator and the Indigenous Music Office Leadership Program.
Through her music and message, Raven invites audiences to see adversity not as an end, but as a guide toward purpose.
